(BLOOMINGTON) - A husband and wife are facing criminal charges after threatening a woman at knife-point and ravaging her tent behind a department store in Bloomington.
A 44-year-old female dialed 911 from the parking lot of K-Mart, located on West Third Street. When Bloomington police arrived, she reported a man and a woman approached her and that is when 27-year-old Samantha Lindsey pulled a pocket knife threatening the woman.
According to Bloomington Police Department Detective Sgt. John Kovach, 30-year-old Tommy Sheldan and Lindsey, began arguing with the woman and accused her of stealing tobacco from their campsite.
The argument escalated and Kovach says that lead to Lindsey pulling her knife, although she never used it, as Sheldan tore apart the victim's tent and beat on it with a stick.
Following the incident, the couple ran from the scene, they were found in a wooded area behind the K-Mart store.
Kovach says the report did not indicate those involved were homeless, although that appears to be the case.
Kovach says both were arrested and Lindsey was charged with intimidation with a deadly weapon and resisting law enforcement. Sheldan faces charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief.
Kovach says although Sheldon did not display his knife, police uncovered a three-to-four-inch blade with a wooden handle in his possession.
