Bloomington Woman Arrested After Tossing Drugs Out Window

Last updated on Monday, October 22, 2012

(BLOOMFIELD) - Victoria Cornman, of Bloomington, was stopped by an Indiana State Police trooper for speeding east of Bloomfield and later arrested on five drug-related charges.

Nick Schneider of the Greene County Daily World reports that Cornman appeared in front of a special judge and was formally charged with dealing a Schedule I, II, III or IV controlled substance; four counts of possession of a Schedule I, II, III, or IV controlled substance; possession of marijuana and driving while suspended with a prior 10-year suspension misdemeanor.

Cornman was arrested Oct. 12th after ISP Senior Trooper Eric Nash clocked her westbound vehicle traveling 76 miles an hour in a 55-mile-an-hour zone on State Road 54, just east of Bloomfield.

The vehicle was registered to her boyfriend, Adam Savia, who was a passenger.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Trooper Nash, Cornman allegedly tossed a bag - that was later found out to contain a variety of illegal drug-related items - into a yard where she had pulled into a private road to stop after the ISP trooper had activated his lights and sirens.

The property owner told police she saw the bag tossed from the car into her yard.

The bag confiscated by Trooper Nash contained pills identified as Oxycodone; Alprazolam;10 grams of marijuana; a digital scale; cigarette rolling papers; $60 in cash; women's gloves; a wallet; a Hoosier Start card issued to Cornman and a Hoosier Start card issued to her daughter; a Visa card; and various gift cards. Inside the vehicle a camera case containing $832 in cash was also found.

During questioning about the bag and its contents, Cornman alleged she was working for a detective in the Bloomington Police City Department as a 'snitch', but said she didn't want her boyfriend to know that. She told Trooper Nash that she was trying to set up a drug buy.

"Victoria Cornman indicated she was going to return to Bloomington after work (in Linton) and try to set up a buy so she they (the police) could take down a big drug dealer in Bloomington that was pushing heroine," Nash wrote in the probable cause affidavit.

The ISP trooper contacted the Bloomington PD detective, whom Corman alleged she was working for and he said he had no knowledge of the drug deal she was referring too. The trooper did say he knew Cornman and would file a supplemental case report outlining his past contact with her.

Cornman also told the police officer that the pills confiscated were purchased from an individual in Greene County, but the marijuana that was found was going to be smoked by her and Savia.

A check of Cornman's driving record showed she had her license suspended with a prior conviction on April 11, 2011.

Savia has not been charged in the case.
