Bloomington Police Investigating Shooting

Last updated on Tuesday, October 16, 2012

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police are investigating a shooting that happened early Saturday morning.

Police were notified about shots fired at 2 a.m. and a person lying on the ground in the 100 block of North Clark Street.

Bloomington Police Lt. Faron Lake says police found blood on the ground and six bullet casings.

Police then found a a 22-year-old man, lying on the ground and bleeding from his mouth about two blocks away, near the corner of Fifth and Union streets.

Lake says the man suffered jaw injury and had difficulty talking.

Faron says police were able to determine that there was an argument between the man and other males at a party. Lake says the men were fighting about two women that were with the victim. The man told police the next thing he remembers was regaining consciousness after being hit, people asking him if he was okay and stumbling down a sidewalk.

Lake says witnesses interviewed by police say a man in an SUV had possibly fired the shots, but it is unclear if that man was involved in the fight.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Bloomington Police Department.
