Bloomington Police Investigate Child Molesting

Last updated on Monday, October 1, 2012

(BLOOMINGTON) - The mother of a seven-year-old girl reported to the Bloomington Police Department that her daughter may have been molested five years ago.

BPD Detective Sgt. John Kovach says the woman reported the girl had been seeing a counselor ever since she began "acting out."

The counselor disclosed to the mother that the child displayed signs of having been molested, though it is not clear to the mother or police what those signs are.

The suspect in mind may have been an acquaintance of the mother's. The department forwarded the case to Department of Child Services.

Kovach says, the case is actively being investigated by police and forensic interviews are in the process of being arranged.
