Bloomington Man Arrested After Pushing Woman

Last updated on Thursday, October 11, 2012

(BLOOMINGTON) - 20-year-old Zachary Poland, of Bloomington, is facing a felony charge of domestic assault after pushing a woman to the ground in the presence of their child.

Bloomington Police Sgt. John Kovach says the 22-year-old woman had a protective order against her former boyfriend Poland. However the woman went to Poland's home Monday afternoon to spend time with their 3-month-old child.

The woman told police that when she tried to leave, Poland reportedly stopped her and pushed her to the ground in the presence of their child. However Poland says that didn't happen.

Kovach says the fall caused a bruise on the back of the victim's right shoulder and a minor injury to her left hand. At some point, she screamed for help.

A neighbor of Poland's overheard the screaming and called police, who arrested Poland.
