Bedford Man Arrested After Grabbing Boy By Throat

Last updated on Friday, October 26, 2012

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after he allegedly hit his girlfriend and chocked her 15-year-old son.

43-year-old Alan Yarberry, 204 H Street, was charged with battery, battery in the presence of a minor and strangulation.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, the department received two 911 calls reporting a domestic dispute at 4:39 p.m.

"Mr. Yarberry and his girlfriend, who lives with him, were arguing about her cooking and feeding her children," Parsley says. "The woman alleges Mr. Yarberry called her a name and that is when her son came to her defense."

That is when Yarberry allegedly put his hands around the 15-year-old boy's throat and threw him on the couch.

"That is when the woman came to the defense of the boy," Parsley says. "She alleges Mr. Yarberry hit her with an open hand in the back of the head. The boy was able to push himself free and run out the front door."

But Yarberry allegedly followed, grabbed the boy and pulled him back into the home, Parsley says.

When police arrived Parsley says Yarberry was arrested.
