(BEDFORD) - A Williams man was arrested after police stopped him for a traffic violation Thursday night.

53-year-old Halford Hattery Haworth was charged with driving while his driver's license was expired with prior convictions, and possession of stolen property. He was also cited for expired license plate.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, Haworth was stopped by police at the intersection of 16th and Beech Streets. Police stopped Haworth because the vehicle he was driving had an expired license plate.

Parsley says, after running Haworth's license they discovered it was suspended and that the sticker on the plate was stolen off another vehicle in November 2011.
