Solsberry Hometown Fair Kicks Off Saturday

(SOLSBERRY) - The Solsberry Hometown Fair has new activities scheduled for the annual event, slated for Saturday.

Sabrina Westfall of the Greene County Daily World reports that the fair was resurrected last year after more than two decades of the fair not being a part of the community.

The event which will kick off at 9 a.m. has been moved from the Solsberry Railroad Yard to the fire department this year, located on State Road 43.

The event will kick off at 9 a.m., with Chuck Wall presenting the invocation and Melody Carter singing the National Anthem. There will be a breakfast at the Solsberry Fire Station from 7 to 10 a.m., which will include biscuits and gravy, pancakes, sausage, bacon, coffee, orange juice, and milk. fair committee chairman Michael Hatfield says To commemorate the restoration of the old Yoho General Store there will be items for sale depicting the original store.

T-shirts, zippered tote bags and calendars will be emblazoned with a photo of the store originally built in 1934.

There will be musical entertainment throughout the day until the event's closing around 6 p.m.

The Hudson's will present their hometown sound shortly after 9 a.m., the Eastern Greene High School Strings will take the stage at 11 a.m., Lisa Young will be accompanied by Bruce Payton at 1 p.m., RPM will present some oldies and Jack Legg will offer classic rock and country music.

Registration for the People's Choice Motorcycle Show will start after the singing of the National Anthem, and continue until 11 a.m.

Patrons can start voting for their favorite motorcycle at 11 a.m., and the people's choice will be chosen at 2 p.m.

Each participant will receive a ribbon for their entry and a plaque will be given to the People Choice Motorcycle.

Visitors will also be eligible for door prizes throughout the day after registering at the Solsberry Hometown Fair.

Hatfield says there will be plenty of opportunities to purchase local-made items will be available among the vendors set up at the fire station.
