Last updated on Wednesday, September 5, 2012

(WASHINGTON) - Highway 257, south of Washington was closed for about six hours Monday by an overturned tractor-trailer.

About 9:00 a.m., a 2012 Peterbilt semi, driven by Tony Armes, of Logan, Illinois, was southbound on State Road 257 near County Road 400 South.

Armes said the trailer began to slide as he entered a left hand turn. Although he tried to correct the slide the trailer continued sliding and the truck overturned with the cab on the driver's side in the roadway.

Armes suffered fractures and dislocations to his lower arm and elbow.

Damage was estimated at up to $100,000.
