(SALEM) - 29-year-old Dyuane Hoyt, of Salem, knew he had an outstanding warrant in Bartholomew County, so when a Salem law enforcement officer asked who he was, Hoyt gave his brother's name and date of birth.

His girlfriend, 38-year-old Miranda Young, of Salem, confirmed the information.,

Stephanie Taylor Ferriell of the Leader-Democrat reports that Hoyt now faces charges of identity deception and false informing. Young was also arrested and charged with identity deception, false informing and assisting a criminal.

The incident began Aug. 4 when Salem City Police were dispatched to SR 135 North in reference to two people walking in the roadway. When the officer checked the identifying information provided, it checked out.

The next day, officers received a 911 call reporting a possible domestic disturbance. They were told the man involved would say his name is Joshua Hoyt when his name is actually Dyuane Hoyt.

When the officer interviewed a co-worker of Hoyt, that person said Hoyt also provided his brother's information when issued a seat belt citation in Greenville on Aug. 3.

Dyuane Hoyt and Young were later arrested.

Young entered a plea agreement and received a suspended sentence of one year. She is on probation for 363 days and must complete community service. Hoyt's case is still pending. He also is faces charges of failure to appear on two counts of driving while suspended in Bartholomew County as well.
