Last updated on Saturday, September 8, 2012

(SEYMOUR) - A 27-year-old Benjamin Schwarts, of Louisville, KY. was arrested after police discovered about 1 pound of marijuana in his vehicle after a traffic stop near Seymour on Wednesday.

Schwartz was charged with dealing in marijuana and possession of marijuana more than 30 grams. He was taken to the Brownstown Jail where he posted a $1,005 bond shortly after he was booked into the jail and was released at 3:29 p.m. Wednesday.

According to a report from the Indiana State Police Post at Versailles, Schwartz's arrest occurred after Trooper Randel Miller stopped a 1995 Chevrolet Impala for a traffic violation.

That stop occurred shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday on the southbound side of Interstate 65 about a mile north of Seymour.

Miller reported he became suspicious of the driver and called in help.

Master Trooper Stephen Wheeles and his canine partner Kane were nearby and stopped to assist. The canine alerted to the scent of drugs while walking around the vehicle. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of about one pound of high-grade marijuana.
