(BEDFORD) - Bedford police detectives are investigating a theft and attempted theft at Wal-Mart.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were called at 9:40 a.m.

Tuesday after a man reported his day planner with his money and credit cards was stolen from his shopping cart.

Parsley says the man was loading items he purchased at the store into his car and when he returned to get his day planner out of the cart it was missing.

Then at 10:07 p.m., police received a call reporting a man driving a brownish-gray Jeep Liberty attempted to steal a 50-inch television from the store.

Parsley says detectives are reviewing surveillance tapes to identify the people.
