(MITCHELL) - Mitchell engineers are continuing to study an alternative plan that would divert stormwater from low-lying areas into constructed wetlands.
Krystal Shetler of the Times-Mail reports that Mayor Gary Pruett says some money left over from the Doc Hamilton Boulevard construction will be used to help fund the project, but the city's grant-writing firm, Administrative Resources association, is working to come up with other funding sources.
Pruett says the project is still a long way off, but officials are looking at ways to make to us the flow of stormwater to create the wetland and to make it a city-wide project, not just focusing on Hel-Mar, but other areas that need flooding help.
Pruett says experts are hoping to be able to divert the stormwater into wetlands.
