(BLOOMINGTON) - After receiving a tip, members of the U.S. Marshals conducted surveillance at various westside motels and restaurants Thursday in search of a man they say violated his parole.

Abby Tonsing of the Herald-Times reports that Indiana State Police arrested Stephen Lane Hart, 43, of Martinsville, Thursday night on preliminary charges of dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of paraphernalia. His bond was set at $4,000 surety, $500 cash, but is on hold for a parole violation.

U.S. Marshals received a Crime Stoppers tip that Hart may have violated his parole, and that he was armed, according to John Beeman of the U.S. Marshals fugitive task force.

Officials eventually spotted Hart at a mobile home in the area of West Third Street and Ind. 37, where they said they also found cash and drugs.

"There was meth, there was packaging for distribution found," Beeman said. They did not find Hart to be armed.

"It was a rather extensive surveillance," Beeman said. He estimated up to eight federal task force members, deputies, troopers and other law enforcement participated in the 12-hour surveillance, some traveling to Bloomington from Indianapolis and Evansville."
