Last updated on Thursday, September 27, 2012

(SEYMOUR) - The arrest of a 62-year-old Warrick County man Monday on sexual misconduct with a minor charges stems from an investigation that began in Seymour.

Aubrey Woods of the Tribune reports that David W. Wakeman of Chandler faces two Class C felony counts of sexual misconduct with a minor in Jackson County and a similar charge in Warrick County. He also faces a Class B felony charge of sexual misconduct with a minor in Warrick County.

"She went to Warrick County and stayed with him for a couple of weeks," Seymour Detective Troy Munson said of the teenage victim, who lives in Seymour.

Munson said Wakeman brought the girl back to Seymour and stayed a week or so before returning home.

After Wakeman left Seymour, the girl told her mother about the incidents, which were then reported in August to Seymour police, Munson said.

After interviewing the girl, Munson said, he worked with the Warrick County Sheriff's Department to locate Wakeman, who was arrested Monday at his home.

Wakeman is being held on a $1,000 bond at the Warrick County Jail. His initial hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. today in Warrick Superior Court.
