(BEDFORD) - The city TASC bus will make stops at nine locations in Bedford and take passengers to the Limestone Ladle monthly free dinner at the Knights of Columbus hall, at 22nd and M streets.
Marge Phillips says Lawrence County Superior I Judge Michael Robbins made it possible for the bus to provide transportation for a trial period.
The free meal will be served from 1-3 p.m. by Calvary Lutheran Church who is the host this month for this months meal. Magic Morning Bakery is donating a cake to celebrate the groups 2nd year of providing free meals.
Different churches take turns preparing and serving the meal. One church can do the whole meal or two churches can work together. Phillips says service groups are also welcome to volunteer.
She says if a church can't provide a meal, they can donate paper products or cash.
Limestone Ladle serves a meal the third Sunday of each month. The group's goal is to bring food to the homeless, needy and lonely.
Phillips said the group serves as many as 75 to 80 people each month, but they expect that number to increase now that there will be bus service.
