Jasonville Woman Arrested After Stealing Lottery Tickets

(BLOOMFIELD) - 46-year-old Ronda Cooksey, of Jasonville is accused of stealing Instant Hoosier Lottery tickets from Casey’s General Store in Jasonville, where she was employed.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Cooksey is charged with allegedly stealing 86 tickets with a face value of $545.

The Greene County Daily World reports that Jasonville Assistant Police Chief James Gadberry began the investigation on August 6th after he was contacted by the store manager who told him she had videotape surveillance that showed Cooksey taking a stack of lottery tickets from under the counter.

The store manager told police Cooksey had begun cashing the winning lottery tickets at retail outlets in and around Brazil.

During a police interview Cooksey admitted to the thefts. Hoosier Lottery officials confirmed the theft of the 86 tickets and told police that $225 in prize money had been paid out from the stolen tickets

Cooksey told police she threw the non-winning tickets in a dumpster she went on to say she had fallen on hard times financially and knew what she did was wrong.
