(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana State Excise police arrested a record 110 people on 129 charges during tailgating for the Indiana University-Ball State football game Saturday, the most arrests made at a single tailgating event for any Indiana college or university.
According to officer Travis Thickstun, excise police arrested 188 people on 231 charges through the weekend at IU, including 106 arrests on charges of illegal consumption at tailgates.
At IU's last home game versus Indiana State, 34 minors were arrested for illegal consumption. On Saturday, eight juveniles under 18 years old - the youngest being 15 - were cited by patrols during the Ball State game, police said.
Several individuals registered a blood alcohol content of more than 20 percent.
One 20-year-old male was arrested after he was found kneeling between two cars, urinating in public view. He attempted to run once the plain-clothed officers identified themselves with badges, according to a police report.
Once apprehended, he submitted to a portable breath test and registered a blood alcohol content of .236 percent.
A 20-year-old woman found walking at the intersection of 17th and Fess streets Friday, who said she had been at a concert near 14th and Woodlawn streets, was arrested with a blood alcohol content of .26 percent.
