County To Buy Chip Sealer

Last updated on Wednesday, September 12, 2012

(BEDFORD) - The county will purchase a used chip sealer.

The commissioners approved spending $45,000 to purchase the equipment from South Eastern.

Commissioner Bill Spreen says the purchase is a move in the right direction to improve county roads.

"This is just one piece of equipment we need," said Spreen. "We hope in the near future to purchase a distributor truck and rubber roller, so the county can chip and seal that way we can do the work and it will be cheaper. We have to do something this is getting out of hand and we can't keep up with repairing the roads because of costs."

Spreen says doing chip and seal is cheaper then black topping and will allow the county to improve more road miles.
