Chad Stewart Named DNR Wildlife Biologist Of The Year

Last updated on Tuesday, September 25, 2012

(BLOOMINGTON) - Chad Stewart, deer biologist with DNR Division of Fish and Wildlife in Bloomington, was named the Midwest Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies Wildlife Biologist of the Year.

The annual award goes to someone "showing unparalleled initiative toward better understanding of wildlife and their conservation."

Stewart believes several projects over the past year earned him the honor.

Those projects were helping to establish the GiveIN Game program, which connects hunters with Hoosiers who want venison.

He has also worked on disease sampling and surveillance in the white-tailed deer herd across the state. He also helped develop new deer hunting rules and regulations.

Stewart was chosen from 13 state and three Canadian provinces which make up the Midwest Association.

A native of Pennsylvania, Stewart has been with the DNR for almost six years.
