CEO Jonas Uland Retires From Greene County General Hospital

Last updated on Thursday, September 6, 2012

(LINTON) - Greene County General Hospital (GCGH) Chief Executive Officer Jonas Uland has announced his retirement after 32 years with the hospital.

Cortney Rowe Givens of the Rowe Law Firm issued a press release Tuesday on behalf of the Greene County General Hospital Board to announce the retirement, following the acceptance of Uland's retirement at a regular board meeting earlier in the day.

The Greene County Daily World reports, Uland began his employment at GCGH in 1981 as assistant administrator. He has served as hospital administrator since November 1986.

Uland's retirement will be effective Sept. 30, at which time Chief Financial Officer Tim Norris will serve as the hospital's assistant CEO.

"Tim has been our CFO, and he has been with us for several years. He knows the ins-and-outs of the hospital. He is going to fill that spot and we will later address the position of CEO interim," GCGH Board President Harry Huber said Tuesday afternoon.
Huber said he is pleased with Uland's years of service and dedication, and wishes him well as he takes the next step in his life.

"He is in the position I was 10 years ago, when I was able to retire at 52. I celebrate his years of dedication," Huber said.

Huber added before Uland's retirement takes effect there will be a celebration to recognize the administrator's time with the hospital.

"It's a time to reflect about yesterday, say thanks and look forward to tomorrow," Huber said.

Norris said he is pleased Uland has the opportunity to retire, and is ready for the challenge of stepping up to the assistant CEO position.

"We have a big building project coming up and that is a good thing. We will be sprucing up the hospital a little bit," Norris said.

Norris said he has enjoyed his 20 years at the hospital, and is happy to take this next step in his career.

"Most of the people who work here have been here since high school and college. We have a good medical staff and nursing staff. I've undergone the surgery myself (at GCGH), so I can say it's the best in the area," Norris said.
Uland could not be reached for comment.
