Brittany Blanton Crowned Persimmon Queen

(MITCHELL) - 17-year-old Brittany Blanton, was crowned the 2012 Persimmon Festival Queen. Blanton is a senior at Mitchell High School.

Blanton says being crowned queen makes her senior year even more special. A varsity cheerleader, Blanton works at Flippin' Out gymnastics. She plans to attend Indiana University after graduation to study pediatrics.

Reigning with her are princesses . Addyson Hardman, Kalyn White, Burgandy Eagans, Burgandi Baldwin, Sarah Johnson and Abbie White. Miss Congeniality was Mariah Chastain.

Twelve girls competed in this year's contest.
