(BLOOMINGTON) - The Bloomington Police Department and Monroe County Sheriff’s Office will use federal money for patrol car video cameras and electronic kiosks to serve the public.
U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett presented the $34,000 grant to local officials Wednesday.
Bloomington Police Chief Mike Diekhoff tells The Herald-Times his department will use its share of the grant to buy two electronic kiosks available to the public 24 hours a day.
People will be able to use them to communicate with police, obtain forms and permits and request case reports. One kiosk will go in the police station's lobby and the other in the building that houses city offices.
Sheriff Jim Kennedy says his department will use its share to buy "sorely needed" video equipment for patrol cars.
