Bloomfield Woman Releases Historical Fictional Novel

Last updated on Monday, September 17, 2012

(BLOOMFIELD) - The first novel for a Bloomfield retiree is now off the presses and available at a variety of online websites.

NIck Schneider of the Greene County Daily World reports that Sandra S. Gallimore's book entitled "Chronicles of Jongleur, The Storyteller" is a historical fictional novel set in the 13th century of Britain and Europe.

It tells about the struggles of four generations of one family to survive the dangers and persecution of the Roman Church.

"It has a historical background of accuracy, but it is a fictional novel of the Cathars and the extermination of the actual Cathars in 13th century Europe," the author told the Greene County Daily World. "They are not just any family, but the descendants of Mary Magdalene, the historical woman of the Bible, which legends in France tell us fled there in the first century."

The 65-year-old Gallimore says the book can be viewed as controversial by some.

Gallimore says she worked on the novel about nine months for research and writing and another two or three months for editing.

In the last 10 years she has done extensive traveling and that provided her with some personal research for her book.

Gallimore, who was born in Crane Village and lived much of her life in Greene County, says she has written for many years in her job and wrote some poetry.

Her father was the game warden and police chief at the old Crane Depot for many years. A lake on base still bears his name.

She retired about 10 years ago and became interested in natural herbal healing remedies, history and world religion.

The self-published 350-page book combines all three areas of her interests.
The book, published Aug. 18 by Gallimore's own firm "The Last Word," is available online at Amazon in paperback ($13.99) or Kindle ($9.99) format.
