(BEDFORD) - 17-year-old Douglas Holbrook, of Bedford, was arrested after he was found ransacking a truck parked in the 1500 block of 15th Street Sunday afternoon.
The owner was able to give police a description of the teen, who ran toward the Bedford Junior High School.
Police went to a home in the 1300 block of P Street and searched for Holbrook, but he was not there.
That is when an off-duty Bedford Police officer spotted Holbrook at a home in the 1600 block of P Street. Police searched that home and found Holbrook hiding inside.
The owners of the home did not know Holbrook and told police they didn't give him permission to enter their home.
Holbrook was arrested and taken to the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center in Brownstown and charged with unauthorized entry to a motor vehicle, theft and residential entry.
