(BEDFORD) - Bedford’s Susie Sipes is in her fourth year of holding bake sales to benefit local children.
This year's sale will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Wal-Mart.
The money raised will go to Becky's Place, a local shelter for women and children.
Susie decided three years ago she wanted to do something to help hungry children. She planned bake sales in 2009 and 2010, donating the proceeds to a national organization that helps get food to children who need it.
In 2011, she decided she wanted the effort to toward helping local children. Susie determined giving the money to Becky's Place would allow her to accomplish that goal.
Susie says anybody who is willing to donate baked items or volunteer to work at the sale call her at 279-3152.
Last year's bake sale brought in $1,001.
