Another Man Arrested In Fatal Shooting

(BLOOMINGTON) - A man accused of driving the car during the fatal shooting of Ulysses “Lish” Goethe of was apprehended by Fort Wayne police and was brought back to Bloomington to face a charge of assisting a criminal.

Abby Tonsing, of the Herald Times reports, Fort Wayne police arrested 28-year-old Justin L. Reynolds and brought him to the Monroe County Jail on Friday on a felony charge of assisting a criminal.

28-year-old Goethe, of Bloomington, died after being shot once in the head in the early morning hours of July 25 in the 1000 block of North Illinois Street.

More than a week later, 27-year-old Phillip M.T. Phillips, turned himself in at the Monroe County Jail, and faces charges of murder, criminal recklessness and possession of a handgun without a permit.

Police say Reynolds was driving a Ford Focus while Phillips fired the single shot that killed Goethe.

Police say the two men are cousins.

Two women also face felony charges in assisting a criminal in this homicide investigation.

Kristin N. Garrett, 23, was booked into jail days after the fatal shooting on charges of assisting a criminal and false informing. Police report it was her Ford Focus Reynolds was driving the morning of the shooting. Kelsie Shields, who lives on the 2800 block of South Walnut Street Pike, also faces a felony charge of assisting a criminal.

Both women first told police Phillips and another man were in Garrett's car at the time of the shooting, and then they parked the car in Shields' garage so that police could not find it. In a second interview with police, the women said they went to a Bloomfield motel to do a car swap with Phillips, so he could get his own Chevy Tahoe back.
