Three Marion Firefighters Injured After Fire Engine Flips

(MITCHELL) - Three Marion Township Volunteer firefighters were injured after the fire engine they were riding in flipped and crashed on Wesley Chapel Road Saturday night.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, firefighters from Marion, were on their way to a report of a full-involved vehicle fire at 897 Wesley Chapel Road.

The driver 29-year-old firefighter Michael Duncan, of Mitchell, had just crested a hill at the intersection of Wesley Chapel Road and Country Estates Drive when he over-corrected causing the 2011 International fire truck to go off the left side of the road and hit a cedar tree. The fire engine rolled on the passenger side and slid to a stop after hitting a second tree on the right side of the road.

Also injured were firefighters, 24-year-old Amos Hershberger and 26-year-old Dane Fountain, both of Mitchell. Both complained of back pain.

According to police, you could see the vehicle fire from the crash scene. Huron Volunteer Fire Department was called to extinguish the vehicle fire.
