(BEDFORD) - 47-year-old Kelley Kern, of Mitchell, was killed when he crashed his all-terrain vehicle around 7 p.m. on private property near Twin Bridges Road Sunday.
According to Indiana Conservation Officer Ryan Jahn, Kelly was driving at a high-rate of speed in an attempt to jump a steep embankment when he lost control of the ATV.
Jahn says, Kern was thrown from the ATV and the vehicle rolled over him, causing both head and chest injuries.
Lawrence County police, Marion Township Volunteer Firefighters and IU Health Ambulance crews responded. Marion VFD emergency workers performed CPR on Kern and he was transported to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
