(MITCHELL) - Just in time for the start of school, Mitchell filled a few open jobs in classrooms.

Mike Lewis of the Times-Mail reports that the school board Monday night approved hiring Cody Conner as the new English/language arts and psychology teacher at Mitchell High School. He will replace Austin Malone, who is the new principal at Shoals Elementary School.

The board had given Assistant Superintendent Phil Storm the authority to hire people in advance of school but before Monday's meeting, so those people could be in place when students came to class. Conner's hiring was approved retroactively.

Board members unanimously approved Conner's hiring. All five board members - Christopher Shaw, Jamie Kirk, Debra Beeler, Michele Super and Marnie LaFevor - attended Monday's session. The board also unanimously approved several other personnel changes:

Ethan Bohnenkamp as junior high school football assistant coach.
