Man Injured After Falling Asleep And Crashing Car

(BEDFORD) - 66-year-old Thomas Roberts, of Bedford was injured after police say he fell asleep while driving early Thursday morning.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, Roberts had left the scene of the accident, before police arrived.

They found Roberts' 2001 Buick Park Avenue parked at Johnny's Junction.

Roberts told police he was tired of waiting for help so he went to Johnny's Junction to call for help. Roberts told police he suffers from a heart condition and was suffering from chest and body pain.

According to police Roberts couldn't remembered what happened to cause his vehicle to go off the roadway on Hardin Ridge Road and hit a tree, about a half a mile from the intersection of Coveyville Road.
