(BEDFORD) - 29-year-old Derick Sanchez, of Bedford, is accused of molesting a 12-year-old boy at a local church and he did it more than once according to a probable cause affidavit.
In addition to being involved in youth activities at the church, Derick Sanchez,of 415 19th St., has been involved in helping with other youth programs, including a dance program, according to Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Lawrence Superior Court I, a youth pastor at Cornerstone Worship Center caught Sanchez and the boy in a storage room during a back-to-school gathering.
According to the court document, the boy was found with his pants were around his ankles.
The youth minister questioned the boy and the boy told him that Sanchez had performed oral sex on him.. The boy said it had happened before, during vacation Bible school.
The boy later told Lawrence County Police Department Detective Troy Lobosky the same thing, and told the detective that during the sexual act, Sanchez asked the boy to touch his penis.
Sanchez admitted to Lobosky that he had molested the boy.
Sanchez was arrested and charged with two counts of child molesting, each a Class A felony. If convicted of a Class A felony, the prison sentence ranges from 20 to 50 years.
Sanchez remained jailed this morning in Lawrence County Security Center on $20,000 cash or $200,000 surety bond.
