(BEDFORD) - A Loogootee man was injured after he crashed his motorcycle on Ind. 58 East near Boyd Lane Saturday afternoon.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 50-year-old Russell Cook was traveling east on Ind. 58 East when he rounded a curve and his 2012 Harley Davidson Wide Glide went off the roadway and into a ditch.

Cook told police he thought it would be safer to ride the motorcycle down the hill then to try and force the cycle back on the roadway.

The motorcycle crashed in the ditch causing Cook to suffer a shoulder injury and a cut on his forehead.

He was taken to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital for treatment.
