Lawrence County Burn Ban Lifted... For Now

Last updated on Friday, August 17, 2012

(LAWRENCE CO.) - The burn ban for Lawrence County has been lifted - for now.

Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig and the volunteer firefighters say that with the significant amount of rainfall the county received last night and because the ban has been in place for so long they will temporary lift the ban.

But if no more rain falls in the next day or two the ban will be put back in place.

"If someone is going to be burning a significant amount of debris they need to contact the sheriff's Department and alert us," Craig says. "Anyone that has anything to burn needs to do it in the next couple of days, because the ban could be put back in place, so they need to take care of it now."

Anyone with questions or concerns are asked to call the sheriff's department.
