(BEDFORD) - According to Bedford Police officer Jeremy Bridges, Kyle Hutton was the driver of the Jeep CJ7 that hit a utility pole on Bailey Scales Road late Saturday night.
Neither Kyle Hutton nor the three other people, who were thrown from the Jeep and died were wearing seat belts.
When Bedford police officers Jeremy Bridges and Michael Johnson arrived at the scene of the crash at 11:10 p.m., they found the bodies of three people who had been thrown from the Jeep on impact and killed. All suffered injuries over their entire bodies.
The one-vehicle accident happened on Bailey Scales Road, about 100 yards north of the intersection with Riley Boulevard.
Police say the Hutton was traveling south on Bailey Scales Road and hit a utility pole on the east side of the road causing the vehicle to flip.
Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, says it hasn't been determined whether speed or alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. Toxicology reports are pending.
In his accident report, officer Jeremy Bridges put a check mark in the box "had been drinking" in an area designated for information about the driver. That report now says Kyle Hutton was the driver. Officers did request a blood sample be taken for testing and are awaiting those results.
The report lists 33-year-old Dasan Spires, of Heltonville, as being the front passenger seat and said the two women, Spire's fiancee, 38-year-old Laura Duncan, of Mitchell and 30-year-old Morgan Hutton were riding in the back seat.
Police found Spires near the overturned Jeep. Laura Duncan was found lying off the east side of Bailey Scales Road and the body of Morgan Hutton was found in a wooded area a distance away from the crash scene.
30-year-old Kyle Hutton, Morgan's husband, called 911 from his home at 220 Riley Blvd., not far from the crash site. He told police he couldn't find a cell phone to make the call at the crash site. He was taken by medical helicopter to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment; information regarding his condition was not available.
