Last updated on Wednesday, August 8, 2012

(UNDATED) - On Friday, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels will lead motorcyclists on an escorted ride through Southern Indiana.

The 8th Annual Ride with the Governor is intended to promote motorcycle safety while increasing motorists' awareness of bikers and encouraging them to share the road.

The scenic route heads south from the Indiana Statehouse at 10 AM and stops for lunch at Shakamak State Park in Jasonville around noon.

Following lunch, the ride will continue through Goose Pond Fish and Wildlife Area with an afternoon stop in Montgomery at "The Gasthof," and ending at the French Lick Resort.

All stops are open to the public and everyone is welcome, regardless of whether they ride a motorcycle.

All riders are invited to attend this free event sponsored by ABATE of Indiana, Indiana Department of Corrections, and Hendricks County Auto Parts.
