Freetown Women Injured In Crash

Last updated on Wednesday, August 22, 2012

(MITCHELL) - 18-year-old Rachel Stout, of Freetown, was injured Tuesday night, after her brakes failed to stop her Explorer.

According to a Mitchell Police report, officers found Stout in the front yard of a home in the 3000 block of Poplar Street. Stout had approached the home owner and asked them to call police because she had been in an accident.

Stout complained of leg and neck pain and she was taken to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital for treatment.

According to Police Stout was traveling west on Poplar Road when she attempted to apply her brakes and the 1997 Ford Explorer she was driving failed to stop, causing her to hit a utility pole.

Police say the vehicle's brake lights were stuck on and there were about 2 feet of skid marks left on the roadway from where Stout attempted to stop the vehicle.
