(BICKNELL) - Indiana State Police have arrested a Bicknell couple for manufacturing methamphetamine near the Bicknell City Park.

37-year-old Steven Martin, Jr. and his girlfriend, 41-year-old Kara Cooper, were arrested Tuesday afternoon. State Police began an investigation in June after receiving information that Martin and Cooper were involved in illegal drug activity.

State Police obtained a search warrant and went to the residence at 906 Indiana Street where officers found methamphetamine, paraphernalia, and ingredients used to manufacture methamphetamine. The house is located approximately 400 feet from the Bicknell City Park.

The couple was taken to the Knox County Jail on felony charges of manufacturing methamphetamine within 1000 feet of a public park, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of precursors. They also face misdemeanor counts of possession of anhydrous ammonia and possession of paraphernalia.
