(BEDFORD) - 43-year-old Raymond Sykes, of Bedford, was arrested after he caused a scene and threatened Bedford Police officers Monday night.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, Sykes was pulled over by police when they realized he had the wrong license plate on his vehicle.
Sykes pulled into the parking lot of Hardee's restaurant parking lot.
Officers issued a citation for false or fictitious license plate and were explaining the citation when Sykes lost his temper and began screaming and cussing at officers.
Officers asked Sykes several times to calm down. They then informed him he would not be allowed to drive his vehicle, until he had the correct license plate on the vehicle.
Sykes again became belligerent and continued to threaten officers and yell.
Sykes' wife then pulled into the lot to take Sykes home and Sykes again began yelling at police.
Sykes' wife attempted to get her husband into her vehicle and he refused. The couple then entered the restaurant and Sykes began yelling inside the establishment and flipping officers off.
Parsley says, Sykes then exited the building and again was screaming at police saying he was going to file charges against the officers.
"The officers then asked Mr. Sykes if he would like to talk to a supervisor and Sykes refused and began threatening the officers saying he would get the officers one way or another," Parsley said. "That is when officers placed Mr. Sykes under arrest."
Sykes was charged with intimidation and disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia.
