Washington School Board Accepts Retirements - Sets Lunch Prices

(WASHINGTON COUNTY) - The Washington Community School Board met Tuesday with Dr. Dan Roach attending his first meeting as superintendent.

At the meeting the Board accepted the retirements of two more senior faculty members. Kay Michael and Joan Sponn, both long-time teachers at Griffith Elementary, notified the Board they are retiring.

Board president Steve Frette thanked both teachers for their many years of service to the school system.

The Board also received the resignation of WHS math teacher Audrey Case.

The Board approved hiring Jason Smith as a WHS English teacher, Jay Neuhoff will head the WHS Project Lead the Way, Maria Killion will be in charge of VU Early College, and JoAnn Meece was hired as the Jr./Sr. High School Nurse

In other business, the Board also approved the dairy and bakery bids and set lunch prices for the 2012-2013 school year.

For next year Elementary Student Lunch will be $2.50 and Jr. High and WHS students will pay $2.75.

The Breakfast price for all students was set at $1.50.
