Vigil For Slane 2-Year-Old Tonight

Last updated on Tuesday, July 24, 2012

(BLOOMINGTON) - A vigil is scheduled for tonight for 2-year-old I’Nere Wallace, of Bloomington, who was flown to Riley Hospital for children with head injuries. She died early Thursday morning.

Her father, Timothy Walllace, and his fiance, Jessica Merchant, scheduled the vigil for 9 p.m. at Timber Ridge Apartments on South Henderson Street.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Bloomington Police were called to a Timber Ridge Apartment Tuesday evening and found the child was having difficulty breathing. Hospital officials say the child was suffering from severe head trauma.

The girl's mother, 23-year-old Tameria Kline and Kline's girlfriend 20-year-old Dominique Irby, both of Bloomington, were arrested. Kline was charged with neglect of a dependent and Irby was charged with battery.

Irby told police she had disciplined Kline's daughter by hitting her with a belt, tying the child's arms to her legs and placing her in a dark bathroom. Both women denied they caused the head and brain injuries.

The case remains under investigation.
