Last updated on Friday, July 13, 2012

(BEDFORD) - On June 27, 2012, in an award ceremony at the Pentagon, the Department of Navy presented Tri Star Engineering with the 2011 Value Engineering Award for their outstanding work on reducing the life cycle cost of U.S. Navy radar system.

Tri Star hosted a local award ceremony Thursday at their corporate office at East Gate Business & Technology Center to recognize three key employees and their exceptional efforts, which were instrumental in Tri Star receiving this prestigious award. The team, led by John Walters, worked with NSWC Crane to reduce the cost of ownership specifically the repair costs for one of the Navy's advanced air search radar system while improving system performance. The team's innovative approach generated more than $8 million in cost savings. Partnerships with government and industry are instrumental in saving much needed dollars in an era of reduced budgets.

Tri Star Engineering opened its door in 1995 with only five employees and grew to become one of the first minority woman-owned defense contracting firms in the state. Tri Star continues to build on its 17-year history of reliable and responsive service to the U.S. Government. Tri Star employs approximately 400 employees supporting Navy, Marine Corp, NASA and Special Operations customers with corporate headquarters in Bedford.
