(BEDFORD) - The slide at Lowery Pool has been closed because of damage.
Parks Director Mike Mitchell says workers found the slide had been chipping and some Fiberglass was showing through, so the slide had to be closed.
Representatives of Miracle Equipment have been asked to inspect the damage and determine if the 26-year-old slide is salvageable. Mitchell also plans to request estimates for a new splash park design slide.
Mitchell says there is more than $33,000 available in a non-reverting fund designated for pool equipment, and Mitchell said Bedford Recreation Foundation officials indicated they would be willing to assist with the project.
