Residents Asked To Conserve Water

Last updated on Wednesday, July 4, 2012

(BEDFORD) - The North Lawrence Water Authority is urging customers, because of the dry weather conditions to be conservative with water usage. Questions can be directed to the water authority at 279-2774.

Orleans town officials also are asking all residents to begin voluntary measures to help conserve water as a result of the extreme drought conditions and record-breaking heat. The announcement comes after town officials were contacted by Patoka Lake Regional Water & Sewer District representatives late Saturday afternoon and were told that water supplies in some of its service areas were becoming very low.

Orleans Clerk Robert Henderson said that while the town's own water supply continues to be more than adequate, any type of water conservation efforts by residents would be very helpful to other parts of Orange County and surrounding counties during this time.
