(BLOOMFIELD) - The parents of a missing rural Bloomfield woman, who has a learning disability, are concerned their daughter may be in danger and in desperate need of medication.
Nick Schneider, of the Greene County Daily World reports, 24-year-old Tia Spires, was last seen by her parents a week ago on the evening of Thursday, July 19th.
She was wearing jeans and T-shirt with a black collar.
Tia was carrying a black backpack, according to her dad, Sam Spires, who lives on South Baseline Road.
Tia is 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. She has dark brown hair and blue/gray eyes.
Sam and Tina Spires reported their daughter missing to the Greene County Sheriff's Department on July 19th, and her name was put on a national network.
The next morning, July 20th, Tia called home.
She told her parents that she was at a person's home, but would not give them any specifics about where she was or who she was with, according to her mother, Tina Spires.
"We got no answers from her at all," Tina Spires said.
Nonetheless, the Spires contacted the sheriff's department and took her name off the missing person's network, thinking that Tia would return home.
However, on Monday when they had not heard from her again, they again contacted the sheriff's department to re-activate the case since they had not physically seen her, according to GCSD Records Clerk Jodi Dunigan.
The missing woman's mother also said Tia had been visiting what she called "questionable chat room sites" on the Internet.
But she added, "We found no evidence that she was planning anything. I have no idea where she is at. I'm so worried."
Her father is also baffled as to where his daughter might have gone.
"She has made no contacts with friends by phone or her Facebook page. We are fearful she might have met someone online," he said in noting that she had been chatting on several online sites in the past. "She's never done anything like this before. It's just not her. Somebody has got to have her."
Tia, because of a brain ailment which has left her with the mentality of a 15 or 16 year old, needs daily medication and her dad says there is no way she could have taken enough with her to take the required dosage for this long of a period.
The Greene County Sheriff's Department have been accessing cellphone records and her Internet accounts to try and pinpoint her location, according to Sam Spires.
So far, those efforts have not produced any definitive results, Sam Spires told the Greene County Daily World on Wednesday afternoon.
"We're really getting concerned." he concluded.
