(OOLITIC) - The Oolitic Festival Car Show is Saturday. The event will be held on Main Street from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with registration at 10 a.m.
Sue Holmes, president of the Oolitic festival committee says all the proceeds from the event will go toward the 2013 Oolitic Festival.
"We want everyone to come out and enjoy the beautiful cars," Holmes said
Following much discussion and deliberation, members of the Oolitic Festival Committee decided not to stage a community festival in 2012.
Holmes cited a lack of funding, conflicts with other community events and the opportunity to rebuild the festival as the key factors in the decision-making process.
Holmes emphasized the summer festival has been postponed, not discontinued.
"The festival will continue," she insisted. "We already are making plans for June 2013. Our plan is to continue our fundraising efforts so we can stage a bigger and better festival for the community. Our goals are more rides, a larger parade and more explosive fireworks."
"We want everyone to come out and enjoy the beautiful cars," Holmes said. "And, we are looking forward to amazing everyone with a great festival in 2013."
