Motorcyclist Injured After Hitting Deer

(HELTONVILLE) - 29-year-old Nathan Poindexter, of Bloomington, was injured after a deer ran into the path of his 1999 AMF motorcycle Friday night on Ind. 446 near Henderson Creek Road.

Lawrence County police were notified about the wreck when a passer-by noticed the motorcycle and deer dead near Ind. 446. According to police reports, a wrecker was at the scene to remove the motorcycle when they arrived. Police found Poindexter at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

Poindexter told police he was wearing a helmet, but couldn't remember much of the accident. He told police a passer-by stopped and took him home, where he then called 911 and went to the hospital.

Poindexter suffered internal injuries and injures to his arms.
