Last updated on Tuesday, July 10, 2012

(MARTINSVILLE) - 24-year-old Melissa Moore, of Martinville is dead after being shot twice in her apartment on South Marion Street.

Neighbors say 32-year-old Addam Foster was the man who she had just ended a relationship with.

According to Martinville Police Chief Darrel Davis, Foster dialed 911 at 12:51 p.m. to report he had just shot someone and wanted to turn himself into police.

Officers told him to leave the weapon in the apartment and walk out with his hands up. He was arrested without incident and taken to the Morgan County Jail around 5 p.m. and charged with murder.

Police found Moore's body in a back bedroom . An autopsy has been scheduled for today.

The couple's 14-month-old daughter was in the apartment during the shooting but was not injured and place in the custody of the Department of Child Services and then released to Moore's parents.

Davis says there was no record of domestic violence at the home and that Foster had no history of violence.

Davis says it appears the shooting was an unexpected and random act.

Moore's bestfriend, Brittani Brewer says, the couple had been dating for five years and that Moore had ended the relationship because the couple was always butting-heads.

Police say Moore used Facebook to break up with Foster before he shot and killed her.

According to police Foster posted a apology to Moore on Facebook for what he was going to do, before the shooting.

Police say the shooting is still under investigation.
