(UNDATED) - Hoosier Uplands is being awarded a total of $1.5 million to assist victims of the March 2 tornadoes.
The funds are being provided by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority and are made up of Community Development Block Grant and HOME Funds.
"We are being provided these funds to help victims in Clark and Washington counties," says David Miller, Hoosier Uplands Chief Executive Officer. "Plans are to assist up to 22 homeowners with necessary home repairs and 16 or so with complete new construction."
Person will also receive homeowner counseling as needed. Receipt of FEMA funds or insurance proceeds does not disqualify someone from this program and a homeowner is not required to apply for FEMA assistance to qualify. There are income qualifications for the assistance.
This program will be administered through the Hoosier Uplands Salem Office, so anyone who has questions can contact Natalie Wells or Debbie Taylor at 812-883-5368.
