Last updated on Tuesday, July 10, 2012

(BEDFORD) - Glory Days, an annual, multi-class reunion featuring flag football, kickball and a 5K relay, is staged to raise money for vital organizations supporting cancer patients and their families in Lawrence County.

Glory Days XIV is scheduled for July 27 and 28 at Parkview Field in Bedford. The weekend events include flag football and kickball tournaments, plus receptions each evening with a benefit auction Saturday night at the Limestone Girls Club.

The Glory Days Foundation was created to honor Robert E. Lee II and provide much needed assistance to citizens of Lawrence County who are facing the financial burden associated with treatment of cancer. In its first 13 years, the foundation has donated more than $360,000 to this important cause.

Proceeds from the event go to the Indiana University Thoracic Oncology Program; Phi Beta Psi Cancer Fund; Lawrence County Patient Services; the Thornton Memorial Boys Club; and the Limestone Girls Club.

Plus, the Lee family has established the Robert E. Lee II Memorial Scholarship to benefit local students. To date, $42,500 has gone to this fund.

The action-packed weekend begins Friday, July 27 at 6 p.m. with flag football and kickball games and concludes with a spirited auction and reception July 28 from 7-9 p.m. at the Girls Club.

The 5K Relay is scheduled for July 28 at 8 a.m. at Parkview Field.
